Betty J. (Harp) Dado

Betty J. Dado (nee Harp) 88 of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of the late Joseph Anthony Dado who passed away September 21, 2012; loving mother of Martin (Paula) Dado of Whiting, Joseph (Patrice) Dado of South Bend, Paula Franiak of Woodland Hills, CA, Beth Kasper of Whiting and the late Sue (Gary) Lalin and Rosie (late Bruce) Topping; cherished grandmother of Neil Dado, Matthew (Mara) Dado, Gina (Mat) Hytinen, Sam (Christy) Dado, Nick Dado, Kristina (Benedict) Swager, Jennifer (Joe) Waddington, Sean Lalin, Ashley (Rick) Zuniga, Joey (fiancée, Samantha Bouphanouvong) Franiak, Bradley (Tiffany) Franiak, Danny (fiancée, Lauren Taylor) Kasper, US Army CPL Ryan Kasper and the late Joshua Dado, Marty Dado and Gregory Novak; adoring great grandma of Emma, Alex and Lily Dado, Daphne and Reed Hytinen, Alyssa Bolzan, Quinn Swager, Zephyr Zuniga and Brooklyn Franiak; special son-in-law, Jim Kasper; dearest sister of Shirley and Carolannsue; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Betty will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting from 4:00pm concluding with a Celebration of Betty’s life at 8:00pm; cremation to follow; (Due to the current health situation face masks must be worn and social distancing is expected.) Betty Dado was born on April 20, 1933 in Evansville, Indiana, the fourteenth of sixteen children, and was a resident of Whiting for the past 60 years. Betty loved a party, she was a mother to everyone, a stranger to no one, and loved to spend sunny afternoons in the bleachers at Wrigley Field with her husband Joe watching their beloved Cubbies drinking a beer. She loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren, often cooking wonderful meals for them, especially her mostaccioli and world-famous mashed potatoes. Devoted to her family, Betty will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
