Arlene E. (Deman) Casey

Arlene E. Casey (nee Deman) 85 of Whiting,  passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.   Loving mother of Michael Joseph Casey, Kathleen (Victor) Saliga, Patricia Casey, Arlene (Gerard) Pardinek, Kelly Casey and the late Thomas Martin Casey; cherished grandmother of Krysten Casey, late Nathaniel Casey, Mathew (Beth) Saliga, Karen (Ryan) Pokrywczynski, David Saliga, Michele (Rick) Godinez, Gina Saliga, Elaine, Christopher and Michelle Prevatte, Thomas and Steven Casey, Samantha Pardinek, Damien and Zoe Seman; fifteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruth West, two brothers, Leslie Deman and Ronald Deman and former husband, Michael Casey.

Private funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating; interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00am to time of services.

Arlene Casey was born on October 10, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Leslie Walter and Betty Rosemary (Kobos) Deman and was a longtime resident of Whiting. She loved music and mastered the piano at an early age.  Her love of music eventually drew her to organ music which she played beautifully.   After raising a family of six children, Arlene spent her spare time nurturing and growing a variety of greenery which she loved to decorate her home with. Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
