Anne Smaluk, 94 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Franciscan Hospital, Munster. Loving mother of Ron (Irene) Chorba, late Diane Jackim, Michael Chorba and Donna (Dan) Czubak; cherished grandmother of six; adoring great grandma of eight; proud great, great grandma of one; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael, Alex and Nick Smaluk.
Private funeral services were held on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; interment. Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond; there was no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Anne Smaluk was born on November 19, 1930 in Roby, Indiana to Arthur and Martha (Panasuk) Smaluk, A lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community, she was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1948. She was a retiree of the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond and had also worked at Jim’s Food Store on Schrage Avenue, Whiting and even into her 80”s was bartending at “Sporty’s” in Whiting. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org), would be appreciated.
