Anna (Polakova) Kahanik

Anna Kahanik (nee Polakova), 63 of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024. She was the beloved wife of 30 years to the late Peter Kahanik who passed away December 28, 2022; loving mother of Peter Mark Kahanik; dearest sister of Maria (Jaroslav) Masarech; dear aunt of Robert Masarech.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2024 at 10:00am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S. officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30am to time of services. Anna Kahanik was born on August 24, 1961 in Sedliacka Dubova, Slovakia to Emil and Maria Polak and had been a nurse in Slovakia prior to immigrating to Whiting in 1992. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and enjoyed travel throughout Europe. Devoted to her family, Anna will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Ave., Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
