Anett (Puhek) Drac

Anett Drac (nee Puhek) 65 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Community Hospital, Munster. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Peter J. Drac; loving mother of Andrea Drac and the late Catherine Marie Drac; cherished sister of Maritrese (Dale) Mills and Andrew (Kristen) Puhek; adoring aunt of Mark and Matt (Kristina) Mills and Leigh Anne Puhek; dearest sister-in-law of Eva Drac and the late Johnny Drac.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Charles W. Niblick, officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm; members of the parish, will offer prayers at the funeral home on Monday at 4:00pm. Anett Drac was born on July 9, 1959 to Andrew “Porky” and Helen (Runick) Puhek and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. She attended Immaculate Conception School, Whiting and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1977. Anett attended Indiana University for a time before working at Sears Tower and finally becoming a stay-at-home mom. She was currently a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. She was also part of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, BR. 452 and had participated with the Krivan Slovak Folk Dance Ensemble. Anett was a medical billing specialist, currently employed by the Stride Autism Center, Chicago, and loved swimming and watching Reality TV in her spare time. She was kind, loving, witty, beautiful, had a great sense of humor and adored children. A devoted wife, mom, sister, aunt and friend, Anett will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her
