Urban Latta Obituary

Urban S. Latta, 69 of Whiting, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond. Loving father of  Jennifer (Michael) Latta-Fan and Michael Latta; cherished grandpa of Meghan, Jarrett and Michael; dearest brother of  Barbara (late Joseph) Seketa and Jim (Diane) Latta; proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 118th St. and LaPorte Ave., Whiting, with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating.

Urbie Latta was born on March 4, 1949 to Urban and Margaret (Zember) Latta. He was a lifelong resident of Whiting and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1967. He was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 452, the First Catholic Slovak Men’s Union, Br. 762 and was a friend of “Bill W”. Urbie was a former employee of the LTV Steel Co., East Chicago and was the owner and operator of Cal Region Customs Motorcycle Shop. He loved riding and working on his motorcycles. Urbie was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him
