Sophie Danko (nee Berzinski) 98 of Whiting, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony S. Danko who passed away March 3, 1980; loving mother of the late Richard Danko; dear sister of Richard (Margaret) Berzinski and the late Gertrude Zgunda, Helen Dzurovcak and Clara Ballon; cherished aunt of the late Kiki Owens; dearest great aunt of Krista Korba and Eric Owens; dear great grand aunt of Josh Korba and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting with interment of cremains at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. There was no visitation.

Sophie Danko was born on September 22, 1918 in Whiting, Indiana to John and Mary (Kender) Berzinski. She was a lifelong resident and was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting. Sophie was an avid crafter and was a retiree of Sears, Roebuck & Co. at the River Oaks Center, Calumet City, with a service of 10 years.
