Roberta M. (Stirling) Jacobs

Roberta M. Jacobs (nee Stirling) 81 of Whiting, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond, following a courageous 8 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Arthur; loving mother of Dawn (Roger) Phillips and the late Mark A. Jacobs; cherished grandmother of Jacob and Connor Phillips; dearest sister of Jim (Donna) Stirling and Ray (Carol) Stirling and the late Beverly Ullstam, Betty Wik, Bill, Jack and Dan (Bernice) Stirling; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:30pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting; 2:00pm services at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting with the Rev. John C. Henry, officiating; interment, Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00pm.

Roberta Jacobs was born on February 19, 1936 to Robert and Vera (LeVan) Stirling and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a graduate of Hammond Tech High School, Class of 1954 and was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting. She was a retiree of the Inland Steel Co., East Chicago with a service of 37 years and the School City of Hammond (George Rogers Clark Jr./Sr. High Schoo) with seven years of service. Devoted to her family, Roberta will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, would be appreciated.
