Robert R. Walters, 65 of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Schricker) Walters; cherished brother-in-law of Christine (Frank) Gallagher, Mary Beth (Don) Ecker and Kathryn (John) Kish; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Irene (Hicko) Walters and his sister, Carol Marie Walters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 1:00pm (CST) at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating; interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00am (CST) to time of services.

Bob Walters was born on February 1, 1952 and was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, BR. 81.  He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1970 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana State University, Terra Haute, IN, in communications. Bob was an avid golfer, raised and trained “Brittanys” and was an Upland Game Bird hunter. A devoted husband, Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
