Richard Calinski Obituary

Richard J. Calinski, 64 of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa Lynn (nee Burmistry); loving father of Sheila Witak, Sharyn Calinski, Shelly (Steven Batista) Calinski, Sherry (Milo) Montgomery, Stephanie Calinski and Jennifer Calinski; cherished grandpa of Angelica, Clifford, Macayla, Ardyn, Emma, Liam, Kaelyn, Christian and Mila; dearest brother of Robert Calinski, Jr.; dear friends, Cindy and Timothy Nomanson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 8:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00pm.

Richard Calinski was born on January 31, 1954 to Robert, Sr., and Emma (Shernisky) Calinski and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a retiree of the BP Amoco Whiting Refinery and was active with the Girl Scouts of America. Richard was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Squad Whiting Post #80 (memorial service Friday at 7pm).  He loved to BBQ and spending time with his grandchildren. Devoted to his family, Richard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the 2nd Chance for Pets Network would be appreciated.
