Ramona M. (Surber) Lachanski

Ramona M. Lachanski (nee Surber) 90 of Whiting passed away peacefully on the early morning of Thursday, October 4, 2018 at St. James Manor, Crete, IL. Beloved mother of Michael Lachanski, Phillip (Gillian) Lachanski and Laura (Mark) Hruskocy; loving grandmother of Aimee (Robert) Fausto, John Hruskocy, Lindsey (fiancé, Seda) Lachanski, Michael Lachanski and Caroline Lachanski; adoring great grandma of Timothy, Brian, Mark, Peyton, Keri and Brooke; cherished sister of Eileen (late Richard) Manno and the late Henry, Doty and Emil; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 5:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00pm to time of services.

Ramona Lachanski was born on July 8, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Malvina Surber and was a resident of Whiting for the past 34 years. She was a licensed beautician and was a registered gemologist for the Jurgeson-Anderson Jewelers, Chicago with a service of 20 years. Ramona loved to travel and was an avid reader but most of all enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. A devoted mother and grandmother, Ramona will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “ Gimme Shelter”  (for pets) or to the 2^nd Chance for Pets Network, Whiting, would be appreciated.
