Matilda A. “Tilly” Trebs (nee Repovsh) 101 of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Arden Courts of South Holland, IL. She was the beloved wife for 69 years of the late Joseph B. Trebs who passed away July 1, 2010; loving mother of Bill (Denyse) Trebs of Big Fork, MN, Barbara (Rick) Evans of Goodyear, AZ and Robert (Cathy) Trebs of Dyer; cherished grandmother of Jason (Lora) Trebs, Janet (Edward) Trebs-Ingram, Laura Trebs, Amy (Don) Gore, David (Gemma) Evans, JR (Mikey) Evans, Scott Trebs and Chelsea (Ben) Cowan; adoring great grandma of Evan Gore, Henry and Charlie Evans, Tristan Garcia Trebs, Declan and Liliana Cowan.

Dearest sister-in-law of Pat (late William) Trebs and Alice (late Sylvester) Nemcek; proud aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Molly Perko, Frances Thomas, Elizabeth Bock, Marie Livaich, and Jeannie Duffy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm; the St. John Rosary Society, together with member of the parish, will offer prayers at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:00pm.

Tilly Trebs was born on April 29, 1916 in Pennsylvania and was a resident of Whiting for the past 76 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the St. John Rosary Society and the former Wives Club of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John XXIII Council 1696. Tilly had been a volunteer at St. Margaret Hospital Hammond and at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center and was an employee of the former Rosalie Women’s Stores, Hammond, for many years. Devoted to her family, Tilly will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorial to St. John School Endowment Fund would be appreciated.
