Mary Jane Navta was such a sweet lady with such a beautiful soul. she would sit up at the center and share her life experiences and beautiful stories with the staff and her friends, about her travels and trips all over the world. She was such a good story teller, that when she talked no matter what you were doing at the time, we would all stop and listen. She made plenty of friends here at the center. She will be greatly missed amongst us all. She was known here at the center as one of the golden girls, It was a trio of women here, that got together every day here and they would just talk and enjoy one another company, and they reminded you of the golden girls. unfortunately, we've lost 2 of them now, and one still remains. That one thats left has been so sadden by this lost, she just hasn't been the same. So we speak of Mary jane every day to her, and sit and reminece on the good times we had with her, just to put a smile on the last golden girls face. So, to the family sorry for your lost, and we are praying for your strength and comfort. We just wanted you to know that we too, are suffering that great lost with you.

My dear Aunt Mary Jane was a very important part of my young life. She was always there to take care of me when my Mother was not available or working. I can still remember her living in a steep walk up apartment on Schrage Avenue in Whiting, watching over me. After she married and moved to Robertsdale, she took care of me daily after school while I attended St John Parochial School in Whiting in first grade and part of second grade until I moved to Chicago's South side with my Mom.

As I grew up in Robertsdale I used to ride my bike and visit her frequently. She always had some treat for me or sent me to the Whiting Bakery for cheese cake and apple slices (which were her favorites) or her home made Christmas cookies stored carefully in tins on the staircase to her attic to keep them fresh. But my favorite was her Blueberry pie. She always remembered me on my birthdays and at Christmas, too. She was a loving, thoughtful aunt, but she could be a stern taskmaster, too. I loved to hear her stories about my maternal grandparents because I never got to meet them. I remember how she kept her mother's picture on her mother's bedroom chest as a way to keep her memory alive.

I have deep admiration for my cousin, Laura, whose love for her mother was demonstrated by selflessly devoting such a large part of her life to tenaciously making sure Mary Jane had the best health care available, and took on the burden of getting her mother to her dialysis treatments for so many years.

I will miss my dear Aunt Mary Jane and love her far more than people may believe or realize. I would like to extend my deep sorrow for her loss to my cousins Laura and Jennifer and the rest of their family.

Her loving nephew,
