Judith R. “Judy” Murzyn (nee Ulm) 78 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, June 11, 2018 at the home of her son, Mark. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank M. “Satch” Murzyn who passed away December 18, 2017; loving mother of Mark (Tina) Murzyn, Richard Murzyn, Craig Murzyn and Melissa (Tom) Shebish; cherished grandmother of Crystal (Daniel Serrano) Murzyn, Brittany (Gio) Perez, Jake, Nicholas and Grace Shebish; adoring great grandma of Juliana Perez, Malik and Madison Serrano; dearest sister of Jacqueline (George) Pantelis; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her cherished feline companion of 17 years, “Cuddles”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 119th St. and Lincoln Ave., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; entombment immediately following at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. There will be no visitation.
Judy Murzyn was born on February 24, 1940 in East Chicago, Indiana to Richard and June (Kasper) Ulm. She was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School, Class of 1958. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, loved scary movies and always enjoyed the time spent with her girl friends coffee clutching at Sunrise Restaurant in Whiting. Devoted to her family, Judy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets) would be appreciated.
