Janet P. Valocik-Plawecki, 57 of Whiting passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, September 29, 2017. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Tim Plawecki; loving daughter of Alice Comstock; cherished sister of John (Jane) Valocik and Jill (Tom) Smith; adopted and extended family members,  Erik Hill, Pastor Dan & Dawn Freeman, Glenda Wieneke, Stephanie Landgrebe, the YaYa Sisterhood and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John Valocik: uncles, David and Charles Comstock; aunt Janet (late Joseph) Zahorsky and brothers-in-law, Joe and Ted Plawecki.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9009 Kennedy Ave., Highland with Pastor Eric Kleinschmidt, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm and at the church Thursday morning from 9:00am to time of services.

Janet was born on October 27, 1959 and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a graduate of Highland High School, Class of 1977 and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Highland. She enjoyed music and concerts (especially “The Blues”), crocheting, gardening, riding her motorcycle, her Dodge “Challenger”, traveling and was an extreme lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Devoted to her family, Janet will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
