Estela V. DeLuna, 89 of Dyer, formerly of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Sheffield Manor, Dyer. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel DeLuna, Sr., who passed away November 27, 2005; loving mother of Dee (George) Zvonar and Daniel (Rachel) DeLuna both of Whiting, Javier (Sandi) DeLuna of Munster, Jerry (Shirley) DeLuna of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Yolanda (David) Smolar of Schererville; cherished grandmother of Dawn (Robert) Kammer, George Zvonar, James (Sarah) Zvonar, Brenda (Chuck) Podkul, Shawn Zvonar, Daniel (Kristin) DeLuna, III, Erin Ropac, Adrienne (Eric) Tucker, Katie DeLuna, Javier DeLuna, Kyle (Lori) DeLuna and Gabrielle (Mecho) Manousopoulos; adoring great grandma of fourteen; dearest sister of Juan Liscano, Enrique Liscano, Francis Olivrey and the late Erasmo Valdez; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Eduardo Malagon, officiating; interment followed at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.

Estela DeLuna was born on born on April 10, 1928 in Laredo, Texas to Genaro and Vincenta (Garza) Valdez. She had been a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community and loved to crochet. Devoted to her family, Estela will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry, P.O. Box 591, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
