Edward J. “Eddy” Szabo, 51 of Whiting,  passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 8, 2017. He is survived  by his beloved wife Reyna Szabo; four children, Ashlee (Bruce) Pollack, Stephanie (Christopher) Knapp, Kara Szabo and Dylan Szabo; three step-children, Julian (Julia) Nevarez, Jorge Campos and Mariana Campos; four grandchildren, Sophia, Aliyah, Maddox and Connor; parents, Theodore and Carolyn Szabo; sister, Lisa (Anton) Loncaric; many nieces, nephews, aunts uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; 10:00am Liturgy at St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Stephen Muth, officiating; interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00pm; Parastas Service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:15pm.

Eddy Szabo was born on January 29, 1966 in Lorain, Ohio and was a resident of Whiting for the past six years. He was an employee of the Ford Motor Company both in Avon Lake, Ohio and Chicago (Hegewisch) with a service of 24 years. Eddy loved motorcycles,was a very talented drummer and was an avid fan of “Rush” and “Journey”.  Eddy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him
