Carole L. Korman (nee Schafer) 81 of Whiting, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Korman; loving mother of Patrick (Kathleen) Korman of Munster, Michael (Darlene) Korman and Lisa (John) Everly both of Whiting and the late Terri Korman; proud grandmother of Brian (Jessica) Korman, Michael Korman, Adam (Gloria) Korman, Nicholas Korman, Tiffany (Randy) Ridgley, Molly and Jay Korman; adoring great grandma of Zoe and Reid;  nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank “Bub” Schafer and Nicholas Schafer and a sister Rose Ewer.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S. of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating.

Carole Korman was born on July 14, 1936 to Frank and Elizabeth (Rascher) Schafer. She grew up in Cedar Lake, was a resident of the Calumet Region and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. She was a graduate of Lowell High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University and was a graduate of the St. Margaret Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a Registered Nurse and former employee of St. Margaret Hospital and the Hammond-Whiting Care Center.  Carole loved hitting the garage sale circuit and spending time with her family.  In Carole’s honor, please take a friend to a garage sale.
