Carl F. Oliver, 79 of Whiting, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Rush-Presbyterian Medical Center, Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sandra (nee Maciejewski); loving father of Jeff Oliver; dearest brother of Judy (Donald) Bryant; dear brother-in-law of Jackie (Andrew) Trichak, Louis (Betty) Slonczewski, Deborah (John) Garcia, Susan (Melvin) Simonovich and the late Audrey (Richard) Murzyn, Douglas (Evelyn) Slonczewski, David, Bradley, Georgia and Joseph Maciejewski; proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating; entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00pm;
Carl Oliver was born on May 27, 1938 to Stanley and Gertrude (Demps) Oliver and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the American Slovak Club, the Roosevelt Club, the Whiting B.P.O.Elks, Lodge 1273 (memorial service, Sunday at 6:00pm) and the Loyal Order of Moose of Chicago Heights, IL. Carl was a retiree of the Lever Bros. Company, retiring as the chief machinist with a service of 41 years and had served as past president of the Lever Bros. Credit Union and Social Club. He enjoyed shooting sporting clays, was an avid boater and bowler and in his youth had played for the South Chicago “Bonivers”, semi professional football team. A devoted husband and father, Carl will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital, would be appreciated.
