Aurelio Chavez

Aurelio Chavez, 55 of Portage, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Maria Luisa (nee Milan); loving father of Anel, Sergio and the late Daniel; adoring grandfather of Jaidon and Jaiana; cherished son of Plutarco Chavez and the late Nicolasa Herrera Chavez; dearest brother of Rosario, Estela, Ana Maria, Maria Carmen, Maria, Filemon, Felix and Juan Carlos Chavez; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; graveside service at 12:30pm at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, IL 60162; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm.

Aurelio Chavez was a member of St. Francis Church, Lake Station, IN and was a member of Laborers Union, Local 81 of Valparaiso. Devoted to his family, Aurelio will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
