Ann B. Pieters. 90, of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center surrounded by her family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Pieters and Anna (Reppa) Pieters Straka. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ethel (late Vernon) Boyer and brother, George (late Joann) Pieters; cherished aunt of Mark (Nanette) Boyer, Mary Ann (Bert) Bibat, Nancy (Trevis) Mayfield, Theresa (Gary) Buell, Gary Pieters, Katherine Pieters and Rebecca (Justin) Faulkner; special great nephew, Jeremy Boyer; dearest great aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Jerome P. Stack, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Parish Wake Service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:30pm.

Ann Pieters was a lifelong resident of the Whiting- Robertsdale Community and a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1945. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, where she had sung with the Adult Choir and was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, BR. 81. She was a retiree of the Quaker Oats Co., Chicago, with over 30 years of service. Ann loved to play bingo and was devoted to her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
