Andrew Lesko Obituary

Andrew A. Lesko, 92 of Whiting passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Symphony of Joliet, Joliet, IL. He was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Anna (Jansak) Lesko. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen and is survived by several cousins.

Private funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Baran Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment followed at St. John Cemetery, Hammond with Military Honors.

Andrew Lesko was born on October 15, 1925 in Whiting, Indiana and was a lifelong resident. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the Slovak Catholic Sokol, Wreath 81. Andy was a WWII US Army Veteran attaining the rank of corporal. He had participated in the European Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge. Andy was a recipient of the Purple Heart and was a P.O.W. He was a retiree of the Purdy Company, Hammond. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
