Tom Kirin was born on October 25, 1951 to Nick and Ella (Demko) Kirin and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1970 and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. Tom served overseas from 1970 to 1972 and was a member of the American Legion Whiting Post 80. He worked as a welder at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, US Steel, and Hilti. Member of the United Steelworkers Local.  Tom was an avid fisherman and loved his sports. He enjoyed watching game shows, traveling, working crossword puzzles, playing the lottery, and frequenting the casino. However, his greatest passion was his family. More than anything, he was a husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend. If you were lucky enough to know TK, you know how special he was. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (https://www.vvmf.org) or Honor Flight Network (https://www.honorflight.org) would be appreciated.
