Stanley A. â€śStanâ€ť Kozanda, 84 of Whiting passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Sterling House of Merrillville. He is survived by his devoted significant other of 37 years, Eleanore Trgovich; sister, Patricia Hyzy; two children, Kenneth Kozanda and Gail Marie Oâ€™Hara. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Kozanda.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:30am to time of services.
Stan Kozanda was born on December 8, 1928 in South Chicago, Illinois to John and Adeline (Borkowski) Kozanda and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retiree of the GM Electro-Motive Division with a service of 17 years. He was also a barber on the East Side of Chicago for 20 years. Stan will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him
