Theresa Marie Bobos (nee Ban), 88 of Hammond, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Theresa is now looking down on us with her beloved husband John by her side: content, tranquil and knowing that her legacy of love, caring, and service to others lives on.  Devoted to her family, Theresa will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Theresa Bobos was born on July 28, 1929 to John and Mary Catherine (Meditz) Ban. She was the devoted older sister to brothers John (Doris) Ban and the late Jerry (Toni) Ban.

Theresa is the loving mother of Kathleen (Al) Hamnik, Tom (Debbie) Bobos, Margie (Bob) Slamkowski, John (Kathie) Bobos and Jim (Michelle) Bobos; cherished grandmother of Carolyn (Mark) Korba, Joel Slamkowski, Michaela (Aaron) Barrett, Katie (David) Markovich, Julie Bobos, Brian (Erin) Bobos, Rachel (David) Delgado, Michael and Mary (Bobos); and the adoring great grandmother of Jonathan, Bradyn, Landon, Drew, Luke, Ben, Madison and Clara.

Theresa was the dear sister-in-law of Ron (Cynthia) Bobos, Jerry Bobos, Richard (late Justine) Bobos, George (late Shirley) Bobos, Lois (late James) Bobos, Dorothy (late William) Murawski, Maryann Bodnar, late Sophie (late Emil) Jacobsen, late Joseph (late Dolores) Bobos and late David Bobos: proud aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm. The St. John Rosary Society, together with members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30pm with eulogy to follow.

Theresa was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and a graduate of Whiting High School. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the St. John Rosary Society, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 81, the Whiting Pinochle Club and participated with the Amoco Oil Annuitants, Amocares. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John School Endowment Fund or to St. John Church, Whiting, would be appreciated.
