Stephen G. Bednar, 76 of LaPorte, IN, peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Lenore R. (Kocot) Bednar who passed away in 1986; loving father of Christopher (Cindy) Bednar of Valparaiso and Dawn Huber of LaPorte; adoring grandpa of John, Ryan, Nicole, Carter and Summer; cherished brother of Carol Bednar; and many cousins.

Visitation and service will both be held on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235 119th Street Whiting, IN. Visitation 9:00 to 11:00am followed by funeral service at 11:00am with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment of cremains immediately following at Saint John Cemetery in Hammond.

Stephen Bednar was born on November 12, 1941 to Stephan and Eleanore (Mahoney) Bednar and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1959 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University in Industrial Management. Most of his career was spent working in sales for McGill Manufacturing. Steve loved football and was an avid Chicago Bears and Purdue Boilermaker fan.  He was involved in both coaching and helping start the Pop Warner Football League in LaPorte. Steve loved to attend all the activities his grandchildren participated in. Devoted to his family, Steve will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him
