Stanley A. “Stan” Kozanda, 84 of Whiting passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Sterling House of Merrillville. He is survived by his devoted significant other of 37 years, Eleanore Trgovich; sister, Patricia Hyzy; two children, Kenneth Kozanda and Gail Marie O’Hara. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Kozanda.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8:30am to time of services.

Stan Kozanda was born on December 8, 1928 in South Chicago, Illinois to John and Adeline (Borkowski) Kozanda and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retiree of the GM Electro-Motive Division with a service of 17 years. He was also a barber on the East Side of Chicago for 20 years.
