Stanley J. Dostatni

Stanley J. Dostatni, 69 of the Robertsdale section of Hammond, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Nancy (nee Sobczak); loving father of Michael and Rebecca; cherished brother of Sandra Dostatni and the late Christine Dostatni; dearest brother-in-law of Janet (Richard) Snekhaus and James (Joanne) Sobczak; dear uncle and Godfather of Matthew Sobczak; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. Adalbert Church, Whiting with the Rev. Kevin M. Scalf, C.PP.S., officiating; entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00pm; members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:30pm.

Stan Dostatni was born on July 28, 1948 to Stanley and Genevieve (Muta) Dostatni, original owners of Dusty’s Tap, Whiting. He was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community and was a member of St. Adalbert Church, Whiting. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1966 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University Calumet in Civil Engineering and received his Masters in Business Administration from Indiana University Northwest. Stan served as the Hammond City Engineer with a service of 40 years. He enjoyed classic cars and painting both in oil and acrylic and in 1971 he built the sculpture “Triskelion” in front of the Edward D. Anderson Building at Purdue University Calumet. A devoted husband and father, Stan will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
