Rosemary Demkovich was born on July 14, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Blanche (Petrovich) Pesick and was a resident of Whiting for the past 61 years. She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting and the Immaculate Conception Rosary Society. Rosemary was a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She taught art to children for 33 years, 22 of them in Whiting Schools. Rosemary was the Class of 1982 faculty sponsor. She had served on the North Central Accreditation Committee for Indiana Schools and taught color theory at the Art Institute. Rosemary had a very interesting life, crossing paths with Judy Garland and Halston. Talented and creative, she enjoyed drawing, painting and cooking. She loved color and wanted students not to be afraid of color. In celebration of her life, she wanted no one to wear black, but wear color at her funeral. Devoted to her family, Rosemary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, SD (a place she had actually visited) would be appreciated
