Ronald S. Bachurek, 78 of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Hammond. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy D. (Keith) Bachurek who passed away December 27, 2010; loving father of Sherri Fusak of Porter, Lisa Kasper of Whiting, Lori Sommers of South Bend, Ronald Bachurek, Jr. of Chesterton and the late Susan Lynn Bachurek; cherished grandfather of Bryce Alan Nanny, Kristen Lynn Kasper, Rebecca Nicole Sommers and Keith Cody Sommers; adoring great grandpa of Rex Stickler, Jr. and Dallas Dean Martinez; dearest brother of Phillip (Renee) Bachurek of Whiting and Laura (Roger) Allen of Fr. Myers, FL; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2:00PM at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00am to time of services.

Ron Bachurek was born in Whiting, Indiana on April 10, 1934 to Stanley and Rose (Vasilak) Bachurek. He was a lifelong resident and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1952. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time at the Whiting Community Center and was an advocate for the Humane Society. Ron was a retiree of the Inland Steel Company, East Chicago with over 20 years of service. An all-sports enthusiast, Ron cheered for Ohio State, the Chicago White Sox and the Bears. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Humane Society would be appreciated.
