Robert D. Igras, 64 of Hammond, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Agnes (Kostolnik) Igras; loving brother of Edward (Mary) Igras, Richard (Sonia) Igras and the late Dolores Farmer; proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 10:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; burial followed at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.

Robert Igras was born on December 7, 1952. He was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. Robert was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1970 and was a US Navy Veteran. An avid Cubs, Bulls and Green Bay Packers fan, he enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. Devoted to his family, Robert will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorials to “Food for Friends” (Wednesdays at St. Mary’s Hall, Whiting) would be appreciated.
