Richard L. “Dick” Davis, 92 of Whiting, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Lorraine (nee Bystrzycki); loving father of Richard B. (Gloria) Davis, Dirck (Debbie) Davis and Alison (Tom) Bercik; cherished grandfather of Carrie (Steven) Tisckos, Kelly Davis, Chase and Blake Davis; adoring great grandpa of Veronica, Olivia, Kira and Joe; dearest brother of Jolene (late Gene) Le Claire; proud uncle of many nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Bob Kazmierowski.
A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Michael Le Claire, officiating; cremation to follow. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 10:00am until time of services.
Dick Davis was born on August 25, 1925 in Shelbyville, Illinois to Joseph and Gladys Davis and was a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He was an avid golfer and had played minor league baseball for the Chicago White Sox Organization. Dick and his wife Lorry, owned and operated Draperies by Lorraine for over 30 years. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, would be appreciated.
