Napoleon “Polo” Tenorio, 91 of Whiting, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved husband of the late Margarita V. Tenorio (nee Vasquez) who passed away May 8, 2016; loving father of Sylvia (Michael) Planer, Rose Tenorio and Roberta (Mark) Dominiak; cherished “Papa” of Hannah and Margaret Dominiak; dearest brother of Magdalena (late Jose) Ramirez and the late Rodolfo, Jr., Romero, Beatriz, Consuelo and Dora; proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with Deacon Joseph Manchak, officiating, with military honors by the United States Army and the American Legion, DeLaGarza Post 508 of East Chicago.
Polo Tenorio was born on May 28, 1926 in Laredo, Texas to Rodolfo and Hilaria (Urquiza) Tenorio and was a longtime resident of the Calumet Region. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict attaining the rank of corporal. He was a member of the American Legion, De LaGarza Post 508, the Woodman of the World and the Union Beneficia Mexicana. Polo was the owner and operator of Polo’s Barber Shop in Indiana Harbor for over 50 years. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
