Monica A. Mores, 84 of Whiting, passed away Sunday, March 26,2017 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster. She was the beloved daughter of the late Matthew and Agnes (Ustanik) Mores; cherished sister of the late Mary Mores  and the late Richard (late Marilyn) Mores; loving aunt to Judith Bobalik, Richard “Rick”, James, Leonard, and Robert (Amy) Mores and the late Donald Mores; many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00pm. The St. John Rosary Society, together with members of the parish, will offer prayers at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:30pm.

Monica Mores was born on October 26, 1932 in Whiting, Indiana and was a lifelong resident. She was a very devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; she attended St. John School and George Rogers Clark High School Class of 1950 . She was a member of the  St John Rosary Society and Adult Choir for many years. She also participated with the Alleluia Choir and Marian Theater Guild. She was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol, Wreath 81 and The Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, BR. 79. She loved out of door activity, hiking and skiing and  loved to travel (including 4 trips to Europe and many ski trips to Michigan , Wisconsin, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Spain). Monica was a member of the I.A.A. Ski Club and was a retiree of the Inland Steel Co., East Chicago, with 39 years of service. Monica Loved to decorate her home especially at Christmas. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, would be appreciated.
