Mark A. Jacobs, 55 of Whiting passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 3, 2016. Beloved son of Arthur and Roberta Jacobs of Whiting; dearest brother of Dawn (Roger) Phillips of Beecher, IL; dear uncle of Jacob and Connor Phillips; many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with Pastor John Henry of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting, officiating; interment, Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00pm.

Mark Jacobs was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University Northwest and was an employee of Amtrack, Chicago, with a service of eight years. Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman. Devoted to his family, Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” for pets would be appreciated.
