Marianne Hruskocy (nee Kacmarik) 67 of Valparaiso, formerly of Whiting, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at her residence. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, John; loving mother of Margaret (Aniello Patel) Hruskocy; cherished sister of Paul (Mary Ruth) Kacmarik; dearest aunt of Steven (Kristi) Kacmarik and David (Ashley) Kacmarik; dear sister-in-law of Susan (Anthony) Vicari, Grace (John) Dabrowa and Joe (Anita) Hruskocy; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary (Dvorscak) and her step-mother Marge (Puplava) Pliske Kacmarik.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Douglas J. Mayer, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00pm; prayer service Friday at 4:00pm.

Marianne Hruskocy was born on July 8, 1949 and was a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Valparaiso and was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. She was a graduate of St. John School, George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1967 and had attended Purdue University Calumet. Marianne had been a teacher at Wee-Wisdom Pre-School, Whiting with a service of 20 years. She loved to be with her family and all their adventures together. Along with her family she loved walking and biking, especially at the Indiana Dunes and on Mackinac Island. A devoted wife and mother, Marianne will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry, would be appreciated.
