Margareta Berezanich (nee Peresta) 73 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday morning, April 16, 2017 at her residence. Loving mother of Mary Ann (Victor) Pushkarovich of Whiting and Russ Kravchuk of Valparaiso; cherished grandmother of Vita Sanders and Alex Pushkarovich; adoring great grandmother of Lianne Sanders and Alice Pushkarovich; dearest sister of Anna Chechur; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Berezanich, Jr.; sister, Mary Mantich and eight siblings in Ukraine.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017, 10:00am Liturgy at St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 2011 Clark St., Whiting, with the Rev. Steven Muth, officiating; interment, St. Mary Cemetery, Hessville; visitation at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm and at the church on Thursday morning from 9:15am to time of services. Parastas Service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 5:00pm.

Margareta Berezanich was born on June 22, 1943 in Mukachevo, Ukraine and was resident of Whiting for the past 27 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting and the St. Mary’s Altar, Rosary and Sacred Heart Societies. Margareta loved to travel and was known for her beautiful garden. Devoted to her family, Margareta will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
