Lucille Irene Borgetti (nee Benak), 81 of Hammond, passed away on Saturday. April 14, 2018 at the Dyer Nursing Home. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Americo “Bill” Borgetti; loving mother of Lucille Dust, Linda (Robert) Dunford, Robert (Sandra) Borgetti and Lisa Manners; five grandchildren: Lynn (James) Beilfuss, Christina (Tim) Link, Michael (Dena) Dust, Anthony and Nicole Borgetti; three great grandchildren, James, Katelyn and Joshua Beilfuss; brother, Michael (Dolores) Benak; many nieces and nephews. Lucille will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Michael and Mary Benak, her son, William Borgetti; her grandson, Steven Manners; her sisters, Mary Lou Adam and Dolores Naumiec and her brother, James Benak.
Lucille graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in 1954. During her high school years, she played the French horn in the marching and concert bands. After graduation, she worked at Standard Oil as a stenographer. Once married, she took great joy in raising her family and became a Girl Scout leader. She received the Girl Scout St. Ann Award from Bishop Grutka for the Calumet Council for all her devoted years of service. Lucille worked at various credit unions as a bookkeeper and auditor and was a retiree of Israel Methcomm Federal Credit Union, Chicago with a service of 30 years.
Visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2018 at Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting from 4:00 to 8:00pm. The Knights of Columbus, Pope John XXIII Council 1696 will offer prayers at the funeral home on Monday at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7140 Arizona Avenue, Hammond. Visitation will start on Tuesday at 9:00am at the church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am with the Rev. Charles A. Mosley, officiating; interment, Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Calumet Area for their loving support these past two weeks.
