Joyce A (Desatnick) Pardinek

Joyce A Pardinek (neé Desatnick), 80 of Whiting, loving mother, good friend, positive influence on many others, passed away peacefully on Tuesday. February 28, 2017 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence  (Hospice of the Calumet Area), Munster.  She died from complications caused by Chronic Kidney Disease and Congested Heart Disease. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her natural parents Olga (neé Matlon) and Michael Desatnick, and her uncle and aunt Andrew and Anna Fedorko, who raised her as their own child.  She is the loving mother of Mary Therese Pardinek (Las Vegas), Julie Pardinek Baird (Fort Wayne, IN), Gerard Pardinek (Whiting) and Joe Pardinek (Hammond).  She is also the beloved grandmother to Samantha Pardinek, Benny (Juliet Rodriquez) Pardinek.  She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Brandon and Jason Pardinek.

Joyce’s birth mother died 3 months after Joyce was born and she was taken in by her paternal grandmother Anna Desatnick and her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Andrew Fedorko.  Joyce was raised in a stable home and she had a good childhood. Although never officially adopted she called Anna and Andrew Fedorko her mom and dad. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1954 and had worked at Standard Oil before marrying Benjamin Pardinek. Later she worked as a medical coder for Jackson Park Hospital and then Douglas Park Medical Center. She retired in 2002. Joyce has been a lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whiting and a member of the St. John Rosary Society.

Joyce was always lively and entertaining. She wasn’t shy about speaking her mind and she could usually find humor in most situations. She had many friends and helped many people with her insights into human nature and behavior.

There will be no visitation . A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:00am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 119th St. & Lincoln Ave., Whiting, IN with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating.
