John B. “Jack” Gallagher, 77 of Whiting, IN passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Beverly (nee Henson); loving father of Kathleen (Michael) Dille and Nancy (William) Gallagher; cherished grandfather of Keely and Tiernan; dearest brother of Joseph (Marie) Gallagher, Mary (Walter) McCarthy and late Michael Gallagher; dear son-in-law of Gwelda (late William) Henson; fond brother-in-law of Brenda Henson, Laura (Phil) Roe and Nancy (Dan) Williams; nieces and nephews. Interment of cremains will take place at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL, there was no visitation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting. Jack Gallagher was born on April 6, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Patrick and Fern (Barry) Gallagher and was a longtime resident of Whiting. He was a graduate of the DeLasalle Institute, Chicago, Class of 1958 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from DePaul University, Chicago. He was a retiree of the BP Whiting Business Unit with a service of 15 years and was a member of the Isaac Walton League. Jack enjoyed trapshooting, was a history buff and an avid reader. Devoted to his family, Jack will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Isaac Walton League, 1532 Main St., Griffith, IN 46319, would be appreciated.
