James Valentine “Jim” Danielewski, 75 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 19, 2018. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sylvia (nee Groszek) who was at his side; loving son of Jane Danielewski and the late Valentine Danielewski; cherished brother of Larry (Liz) Danielewski, Toni (Russell) Gaines and Debra (George) Ions; two nieces, Susan and Jayne and two great nieces; dear brother-in-law, Stanley (Josie) Groszek; and many Groszek family members.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; entombment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City; visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm; parish wake service at the funeral home on Monday at 4:30pm.
Jim Danielewski was born on June 8, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and was a resident of Whiting for the past 35 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and was a US Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict. He enjoyed reading murder mysteries, listening to music (especially rock and Elvis) and was a retiree of Challenger, Gray and Christmas, Chicago, with a service of 14 years. Devoted to his family, Jim will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
