Frances Luptak (nee Sutkowski) , 93 of Whiting, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2017 at the Community Hospital, Munster. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Luptak who passed away December 7, 2015; loving mother of Fran (fiancée, Paul Muha) Balind of St. John and John Luptak of Hammond; cherished grandma of Jim and Joe Balind; adoring great grandma of Makenzie Balind; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews; Preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters and sisters-in-law Sue (late Mathew) Mudrak and Ruth (late Leo) Ubik.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:00am at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 118th St., and Atchison Ave., Whiting with Pastor John Henry, officiating; interment, Concordia Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00pm and at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00am to time of services; Devotional Service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30pm. 

Frances Luptak was born on December 29, 1923 in East Chicago, Indiana to Stanley and Margaret Sutkowski. She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting. Frances was a graduate of Washington High School, East Chicago, IN and received a Masters of Art Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she displayed many of her works. A retiree of the School City of East Chicago, she taught art to 5th and 6th grade students.  Frances loved to spend time cooking, baking, gardening, and with her pets; she was a fan of all Chicago sports teams.  A devoted wife, mother and grandma, Frances will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Calumet Area Humane Society would be appreciated.
