Edwin W. “Babe” Dybel, 89 of Whiting, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Frances (Hart) Dybel and was also preceded in death by his sister Ann Serkowski and brothers, John, Frank, Matthew, Henry, Joseph, Edward and Leo Dybel. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12 noon at the  Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00am to time of services.

Edwin Dybel was born on May 4, 1928 in Whiting, Indiana to Joseph and Anna Dybel. He was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Whiting High School. He was a US Airforce Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retiree of the US Steel Company with over 30 years of service. An avid outdoorsman, Edwin was a member of the Lake County Fish and Game, DNR and NRA. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the NRA would be appreciated.
