Dorothy J. Darnold (nee Sefchik) 65 of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. Loving mother of Charles W. Artist, Jr., Ronald (Kim) Artist, Andy Artist and Lynette Artist all of Whiting; cherished grandma of seven; dearest sister of Beverly (late Frank) Pustek of Munster and the late Ronald Sefchik and Frank Sefchik; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 8:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Jerome P. Stack, C.PP.S., officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00pm to time of services.

Dorothy was born on July 7, 1951 to the late Chester and Barbara Sefchik, She was a lifelong resident of Whiting and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1970. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, #312 and was a retiree of Stateline Energy with a service of 13 years. She was very active with the Whiting Civil Defense and was a former Whiting crossing guard. Devoted to her family, Dorothy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her
