Alan Andrew Artim, 36 of Whiting, passed away suddenly at his residence on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was the beloved son of Elvin “Al” and Nancy (Ballon) Artim; loving brother of Brandon Artim and  Jillian (John Ward) Artim; dearest uncle of Jayden, Josh and Janna; dear nephew of Irene (late Joseph) Adams, many cousins and his devoted caregiver, Teddy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 12 noon at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Stephen Kosinski, officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00am to time of services.

Alan Artim was born on April 5, 1981 and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He had been a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Whiting and was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 2002. Following graduation, Alan attended the workshop at Dungarvin (formerly Arc/Bridges of Northwest Indiana). He participated in the Tri-City Special Olympics and enjoyed attending the Special Needs Dances. Alan loved sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago, White Sox, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks. He participated with the Munster “Challengers” and loved to bowl at Plaza Lanes, Highland with the “Alley Cats”. Alan loved all activities and enjoyed being with people.  A special thanks to all who cared for Alan through the years. As one of God’s “Special Children,” Alan was more than loved and cared for and will be terribly missed by his family.
